The 2008 HMC Mathematics Conference will take place this week on October 24 and 25, 2008. This year's topic is nonlinear functional analysis.
The conference will consist of an evening lecture, five one hour talks, and a poster session.
The evening lecture will be at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 24, and will be delivered by Professors R. Borelli and C. Coleman, the authors of our differential equations textbook! The talk will explore the transformation of the role of differential equations in Claremont over forty years (read: there will be excellent stories of adventure and mayhem). Yes, Borelli and Coleman will be available for book signing!
The five one-hour talks and the poster session will take place on Saturday, October 25. The speakers, while not all familiar textbook authors, are world-class experts in nonlinear functional analysis. Whether you love nonlinear functions down to your bones or you're just dipping your toes in the mystifying waters of mathematics, be sure to attend!
